Documentaries
DSA Fund provided critical early backing for The Big Scary “S” Word, an award-winning documentary from Emmy-award winning director and producer Yael Bridge. The film explores where American socialism has been, why it was suppressed, and imagines what a renewed American socialism might look like.
Religious Socialism
The original Religious Socialism was founded by John Cort, a long time Christian Socialist writer and activist as well as co-chair of the Religion and Socialism Commission of Democratic Socialists of America (DSA). DSA Fund hosted the publication for more than thirty years, and now hosts the ‘Heart in a Heartless World’ podcast which continues this long and critical tradition linking the moral values of socialism and faith. “GET UP” political education
GET UP was an ambitious political education program from 2011 to 2016 which toured the country, translating complex political economy topics into an accessible, interactive training program. GET UP gave local organizers the tools to help people make sense of how capitalism was ruining their lives – and in doing so, laid the groundwork for the explosion in DSA’s membership around Bernie Sanders’ 2016 presidential campaign.

Book Projects
DSA Fund has helped produce many publications over the years, from anthologies of essays with deep structural analysis to graphic novels that bring democratic socialist history to illustrated life.
We Own The Future: Democratic Socialism – American Style (2020) is a collection of essays from some of most brilliant thinkers on the left, providing a roadmap to making democratic socialism a reality
Labor’s Partisans: Essential Writings on the Union Movement from the 1950s to Today (2025) is an anthology from Dissent Magazine of the best labor writing over the past seventy five years
Graphic Novels
DSA Fund has supported three graphic novels, each a unique contribution to the popularization of democratic socialist traditions.
